About the Rural Medical Educators RME Group
- Origins - the Rural Medical Educators originated out of the Rural GME meeting in February 2000 at San Antonio sponsored by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy and SUNY Buffalo.
- The RME Group combined the functions of this group of program directors and faculty with the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine Group on Rural Health, rural family physicians, and interested members of the NRHA Research and Education Constituency Group.
- The RME Group is a part of the Research and Education Segment of NRHA.
- The first RME Annual Meeting was held in May 2001 in conjunction with the NRHA Annual in Dallas. Over 70 attended this event and the RME group began setting an agenda for rural medical education. Initial Subgroups and Task Groups are listed below:
