Here is the updated FP distribution of graduates from international medical schools. Remember these are allopathic graduate ACGME FP residency programs. Some allopathic FP residency programs have dual osteopathic and allopathic accreditation.
Family Medicine graduates about 3300 residents a Year. My database has grown to include 25% of the graduates from 2002. Therefore you can multiple by a factor of 4 to approximate the actual numbers. This would not work for schools with only 1 - 2 graduates listed below. For example, the expected contribution of Ross U would be about 11x 4 or 44 family practice graduates a year. The range might be 20 - 50 when the database is nearer to completion.
The name of the school and country is followed by the average year of graduation and the number originating from each school. If I have the country wrong or have other errors, I would appreciate an email.
You will note a difference in the graduation rate of those near US as compared to the more distant. Fewer females from the more distant international medical schools choose rural practice (2 of 22). Osteopathic male grads of allopathic programs 47% rural, Males from allopathic med schools 28.7%, female osteopaths 25%, male private allopaths 20.3%, male international grads after 1995 20%, female public allo 19.7%, male pre1996 international 17.4 %, younger female international 16%, private allo 15.9%, older female international 7.7% Some changes could occur in the female osteopathic areas and in international in both genders as the database grows due to small numbers. The other numbers are solid and not changing with additions, nor are they likely to.
